You don't need to be an expert writer, a comedian, or the person who always has something profound to say. You just need a few conversation starters you can rotate through. 🌅 Morning — Start the Conversation Your goal isn't to create a masterpiece. Just give people something easy to respond to. Try: • “Good morning everyone! What are you working on today?” • “What's one thing you're hoping to accomplish today?” • “What's on your priority list this morning?” • “Coffee first or productivity first? ☕😂” • “What are you looking forward to today?” Think: Ask something easy. ☀️ Late Morning — Share Something Useful This is a great time to contribute something you've discovered. You could share: • An interesting article • A useful tool • A resource • A tip • Something you've learned • A question you've been thinking about For example: “I came across this today and thought it might be useful to others here. Has anyone tried it?” Think: Share something that might help someone. 🍽️ Lunchtime — Make It Human Not every community conversation needs to be about business, work, or productivity. Ask something people can answer without needing a PowerPoint presentation. 😂 • “What's everyone having for lunch today?” • “What do you do when you need a break?” • “What's one thing that made you smile today?” • “Anyone discovering a good podcast lately?” • “What's your favorite way to recharge?” Think: Get to know the people, not just their job titles. 🌤️ Afternoon — Get Curious This is a great time to ask questions related to your community's interests. For example: “I'm curious—how are other founders handling this?” Or: “For those of you who have done this before, what worked best for you?” Or simply: “What's something you've learned recently that you wish you'd known earlier?” Think: Ask people for their experience. 🌙 Evening — Reflect & Connect The evening can be a great time for slightly deeper conversations. Try: • “What was your biggest win today?” • “What did you learn today?” • “What are you working toward this week?” • “What are you proud of accomplishing?” • “What are you looking forward to tomorrow?” And sometimes the simplest one works beautifully: “How did everyone's day go?” Think: Invite people to share. 📅 And What About Each Day of the Week? Here's an easy 7-day conversation plan you could actually use. DayConversation ThemeExample Monday Goals - “What's one thing you'd love to accomplish this week?” Tuesday Tips - “What's one tool or trick that's making your life easier?” Wednesday Questions - “What's something you're trying to figure out right now?” Thursday Learning - “What's something useful you've learned recently?” Friday Wins - “What's your win for the week?” 🎉 Saturday Personal - “What are you doing this weekend?” Sunday Reflection - “What's something you're looking forward to next week?” Now you've got seven days of conversation starters without having to stare at the screen thinking: “I need to post something… but my brain has left the building.” 😂 🧠 But How Do I Know What to Say? Here's the REALLY useful part. When you don't know what to post, look around the community and ask yourself five questions: 1. 👀 What are people talking about? Join an existing conversation. You don't always need to start one. Say: “That's interesting. I've had a similar experience…” or “I hadn't thought about it that way. What happened next?” 2. ❓ What am I curious about? If you're wondering about something, chances are someone else is too. Turn your curiosity into a question. 3. 💡 What did I learn today? Share it. It doesn't have to be groundbreaking. Sometimes a tiny discovery is exactly what someone else needed. 4. ❤️ Can I encourage someone? See someone's post? You don't always need to write a long response. Try: “Great insight!” “I really like this idea.” “Congratulations! That's fantastic.” “I'd love to hear how this develops.” A 20-second response can make someone's day. 5. 🤝 Who haven't I talked to yet? This one is especially powerful for community builders. Find someone who hasn't received much interaction and invite them into the conversation. “Welcome! What brought you to the community?” Suddenly, you're not just participating in a community—you’re helping build one. ⭐ The Simple Formula When you're completely stuck, remember: ASK → LISTEN → RESPOND → SHARE → ASK AGAIN You don't need an endless supply of brilliant ideas. People are the content. Their experiences, questions, successes, challenges, opinions, discoveries, and stories give you an almost unlimited supply of things to talk about. And here's my favorite community-building rule: Don't try to be interesting. Be interested. That's often where the best conversations begin. 💙
